Snoopy

Snoopy is a male fox terrier cross something.
We got him when he was a tiny puppy in 2001/2.
He is friendly, patient, charming, quirky, fun, energetic and my best friend.
This is just a bit of a tribute to him, from when we got him as a puppy, till now.
When he was little, when we first got him, he lived in the laundry in a small plastic basket, like a shelf from Ikea, and a woolen blanket. To this day, Snoops still loves woolen blankets and we think that it's because he had one when he was a puppy.

We got Snoopy when I was in about year 4 or 5, so when I was about 9, so we have almost grown up together. These are some old pictures of us.

Now that Snoopy is almost 9 now, I look back at these photos and see how much he has changed. He still has the same ears and nose, but all the brown hair on him has since turned grey- for example his eye brow have been grey for a few years now. He has grown lots since this photo- i can no longer hold him in one hand!

This is probably the beginning of a lifetime obsession of balls. Tennis balls, bouncy balls, soccer balls, fake basketballs. Playing fetch with balls is his way of having fun but also coping with stressful situations. When things get tense or around the house, Snoopy will go get a ball from somewhere and just sit and chew it, almost like a little child would get a blanket or teddy bear for comfort.

Packing and leaving on holidays is always really hard, because I'm more than likely not going to be taking Snoop with me. He's always hanging around, underfoot, while I'm packing, being his nosey, snoopy self. I think its his doggy instincts to worry about 'the herd' leaving him all alone. But we always come back, he never learns.

Snoopy is a very 'inside' kind of dog. When we first got him, my father told us that he was going to stay outside, but soon enough he was in the laundry, and soon enough he was roaming the whole house. Snoopy likes to sleep on our beds, and on cold nights under neath the covers, where is warm and cosy. We're really fine with it because he isn't a smelly or slobbery dog, hes quite clean and tidy (almost cat-like sometimes).

Snoop is very energetic, but also very lazy and sleepy. He is up for a long walk or for a quick run or to play fetch for an afternoon, but when he is not offered the exercise he is happy to to sit or sleep in the sun in the back yard. He is a great combination of fun and playfulness as well as calm and relaxing.
